RCC Receives $30K from Julian T. Pierce Memorial Foundation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                                     November 17, 2025

LUMBERTON, NC – Robeson Community College (RCC) is honored to announce that the Julian T. Pierce Memorial Foundation has presented a $30,000 donation to support student scholarships. This year’s contribution, raised during the Foundation’s annual Scholarship Dinner on August 9, 2025, continues to strengthen the endowment dedicated to supporting RCC students.

The Foundation honors the life and legacy of Julian T. Pierce, a visionary Lumbee leader, attorney, and advocate for equity and justice. The Foundation has partnered with Robeson Community College since 2013. Through its continued generosity, the Foundation helps expand access to higher education for students in Robeson County and strengthens the community’s future workforce.

During this year’s Scholarship Dinner, attendees heard from Ashleigh Brooks, a cosmetology student at RCC and a recipient of the Julian T. Pierce Memorial Fund Endowed Scholarship. Brooks, who is pursuing her Associate in Applied Science degree and plans to graduate in May 2026, shared her heartfelt appreciation with donors and supporters.

“I stand here today deeply humbled and incredibly grateful,” Brooks said. “Receiving this scholarship affirms my passion for cosmetology and strengthens my commitment to this field. Your generosity fuels my determination to work hard, stay creative, and give back to this profession and the community it serves.”

The annual Scholarship Dinner featured a silent and live auction, as well as contributions from members, partners, and supporters whose generosity helped make this year’s donation possible. The Foundation’s continued efforts ensure that Julian T. Pierce’s mission—to uplift individuals through education and opportunity—remains alive for future generations.

Robeson Community College extends its sincere appreciation to the Julian T. Pierce Memorial Foundation for its steadfast support and for empowering students across the region to pursue higher education, develop their talents, and build brighter futures.
