Respiratory Therapy
The Respiratory Therapy curriculum prepares individuals to function as Registered Respiratory Therapists and/or Certified Respiratory Therapists. In these roles, individuals perform diagnostic testing, treatments, and management of patients with heart and lung diseases.
Students will master skills in patient assessment and treatment of cardiopulmonary diseases. These skills include life support, monitoring, drug administration, and treatment of patients of all ages in a variety of settings.
Once provisional acceptance has been granted, Students will be scheduled by Program Faculty to attend 2 clinical affiliates for a guided job shadow.
This does not need to be completed prior to submitting the application to the program.
Career Outlook
Graduates of accredited programs are eligible to take the entry-level examination from the National Board of Respiratory Care. Therapy graduates may also take the Advanced Practitioner examinations. Graduates may be employed in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, education, industry, and home care. For information about Respiratory Therapy, visit www.aarc.org.

CoARC accredits respiratory therapy education programs in the United States. To achieve this end, it utilizes an ‘outcomes-based’ process. Programmatic outcomes are performance indicators that reflect the extent to which the educational goals of the program are achieved and by which program effectiveness is documented.

The Respiratory Therapy AAS Degree is a 74-credit hour program. There is a basic core of 47 credit hours. The program also consists of 27 general education credit hours.

Our goal is to provide a learning and work environment that promotes productivity and the well-being of its students and employees. The College recognizes that tobacco use in the workplace can adversely affect employees as well as students and other patrons.
