Whether you’re picking up a brush for the first time or you’re a seasoned painter looking to grow your technique, this fun and relaxed class is for you! Explore color, texture, and creativity with guided instruction and plenty of room for personal expression.  Each week builds your confidence as you complete projects designed to strengthen your skills and spark your imagination. Soon, you’ll be working on real canvas with acrylics and planning your own paintings in a supportive, encouraging environment.

Supplies:

When beginning your acrylic painting journey, it’s helpful to start with a basic palette. Here are some essential colors (brands like Liquitex Basics, Winsor & Newton Galeria, or Master’s Touch). Master’s Touch ISN’T a favorite, but it works

  • Primary Colors: Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Red, Ultramarine Blue
  • Additional Must-Haves: Titanium White, Mars or Ivory Black, Burnt Umber, Yellow Ochre

With these colors, you can mix most of the shades you’ll need while learning color theory and mixing techniques in the first couple of weeks.

Other supplies needed:

  • Mixed media or canvas pad 9×12 or larger
  • 3 – 4 pack of 8×10 canvases
  • Drafting Tape – ½ inch
  • Set of synthetic (non-shed) acrylic paint brushes (5-7 in a pack), Sizes 2, 4, 6, 8, 12
  • An apron or a large shirt to protect clothing
  • Sponge
  • Paint palette – disposable or plastic
  • Rag or paper towels
  • Brush basin or water jar, or cup

Where to buy:  Amazon, Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Walmart (some items)

Look forward to having you in class!
