Turn up the amps on your future by enrolling in the Electrical Lineman program at Robeson Community College! The electrical lineman program offers students many additional credentials and certifications, giving students a well rounded experience that makes them job ready and more marketable in the workforce.
The electrical lineman course at Robeson Community College prepares individuals to work as a lineman in the preparation and repair of electrical utility service. Course topics include basic elements of electricity, overhead pole and electrical line construction, safety codes and applications, electrical power system, transformer and meter installations, and exploration of underground electrical distribution. Upon completion, students will qualify for employment in various electrical utility industries. Our course content is centered to align with learning outcomes defined by the Carolina Energy Workforce Consortium.
There are several requirements for the program.
- You must be at least 18 years of age by the date of the first class.
- You must have a high school diploma, transcript, or GED
- You must have a class A commercial Learner permit
- you must possess a social security card
- You must be able to pass a DOT physical and DOT drug screen test.
The cost of the program is $182.60. The lineman tool kit costs $135. There is also a truck fee of $250, making the total cost $567.60. All fees must be paid once a student has been accepted into the program. Students will be notified of the deadline to make payment. The course is limited to a maximum number of individuals per class and enrollments are open on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Orientation is required, and will be held 1 week before the start of class, and of course, we will notify students of the date and time of that.
