Cosmetology

The Cosmetology curriculum is designed to provide competency-based knowledge, scientific/artistic principles, and hands-on fundamentals associated with the cosmetology industry. The curriculum provides a simulated salon environment which enables students to develop manipulative skills.

Course work includes instruction in all phases of professional imaging, hair design, chemical processes, skin care, nail care, multi-cultural practices, business/computer principles, product knowledge, and other selected topics.

Graduates should qualify to sit for the State Board of Cosmetic Arts examination. Upon successfully passing the State Board exam, graduates will be issued a license. Employment is available in beauty salons and related businesses.

CAREER OPTIONS

The cosmetology program is designed to prepare students through classroom and practical instruction to master concepts in all phases of professional imaging, hair design, chemical processes, skin care, nail care, multi-cultural practices, business/computer principles, product knowledge, and other selected topics.

Upon graduation students should qualify to take the North Carolina State Board Examination required for licensure as a Cosmetologist. Upon successfully passing the State Board exam, graduates will be issued a license. Employment is available in beauty salons as skin care specialist, nail technicians, platform artist, and other related areas.

Job opportunities and careers are unlimited in this field. Cosmetologists may choose to work in the industry for companies as platform artist, or they may work in a doctor’s office as a skin care specialist.

Entry-Level Salary

COSMETOLOGY (AAS)

Course work includes instruction in all phases of professional imaging, hair design, chemical processes, skin care, nail care, multi-cultural practices, business/computer principles, product knowledge, and other selected topics.

The Cosmetology AAS Degree is a 64 credit hour program including 15 hours of general education.

COSMETOLOGY DIPLOMA
