The Nurse Aide curriculum will prepare you to work under the supervision of licensed nursing professionals in performing nursing care and services for persons of all ages. Course topics include Growth and Development, Personal Care, Vital signs, sterile technique, wound care and more.

Nurse Aide I training includes basic nursing skills required to provide safe, competent personal care for individuals with an emphasis on:

Cost

Total Tuition                             $202.60 (Includes Registration Fee $180.00 & Insurance, Student Fees, etc. $22.60)

Registration is open until filled and/or the first day of class, whichever comes first. Occupancy will vary per class and location.

A CPR Certification training class is included in the price of the Nurse Aide I Course and is scheduled on a certain date. The date and additional info will be provided by the instructor.

Requirements for Registration
  • Proof of English 111 or higher English course
    • OR students must complete TABE Reading Test given through our College & Career Readiness Department. Please contact Lynn Davis for appointment date and time at 910 272-3614.
    • You must have passed the reading test before registering.
  • Current TB Skin Test
  • Picture ID
  • Social Security Card 
  • COVID-19 Immunization is required by the clinical sites.
Class Requirements

***If you owe Robeson Community College any money for fees from previous enrollment, you WILL NOT be allowed to register for classes without satisfying that debt with the business office.

The COVID vaccine is required; as well as, a TB skin test.

All students will be required to complete a drug screen\ official background check. The performance of the drug screen\criminal background check is currently a requirement of the clinical sites with whom the College has contracted to provide clinical training and experience to the College’s Health Sciences students. It will be your responsibility to pay for the drug screen / criminal background check. Additional information regarding the ONLINE company you will complete this through will be provided upon registration. This must be completed no later than the first week of class.

The clinical sites have the discretionary right to refuse to permit a student having a positive drug screen and/or criminal record from receiving clinical training in their facility and that this determination is made by the clinical sites individually without input from the College. In the event that you are denied placement in a clinical facility by any of the clinical sites, you will be unable to successfully complete the Program, as the Program’s clinical objectives cannot be met, and you will be dismissed from the Program by the College.

State Testing Information

Once a student has successfully completed the Nurse Aide course, they will be eligible to take the State issued Nurse Aide exam.  This test is issued by Credentia.  The student will have two years (from the class completion date) and/or three attempts to pass their exam.  Upon successful completion of this exam, the student will earn the title of Certified Nurse Aide (CNA I).  Instructors will assist the student with scheduling their first test attempt at the conclusion of their class.  If the student is unsuccessful on their state exam, they should contact Credentia to reschedule.  The Robeson Community College Nurse Aide Department does not maintain control of the test, the companies testing rules, or grievances.  For testing information and or to schedule/reschedule your state exam, please visit: https://credentia.com/test-takers/ncna.     

Nurse Aide II provides training in Nurse Aide II tasks. Emphasis is placed on the role of the Nurse Aide II, sterile technique and specific tasks such as urinary catheterization, wound care, respiratory procedures, ostomy care, peripheral IV assistive activities, and alternative feeding methods. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills and safe performance of skills necessary to be eligible for listing on the North Carolina Nurse Aide II Registry through the NC Board of Nursing.

The Nurse Aide I Refresher Course consists of a brief review of the Nurse Aide I course and competency exam required for listing as a Nurse Aide I.

REQUIREMENTS FOR REGISTRATION

Students eligible for this course must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Written proof of completion of an approved NC Nurse Aide I training program within the last 5 years and never taken the NNAAP test, or
  • Unsuccessful NNAAP testing candidates, with written proof of completion of an approved NC Nurse Aide I training course program within the last 5 years, or
  • Written proof of previous or current registry listing on any state recognized within the last 5 years.

Students who successfully complete this class can register for the Nurse Aide I certification exam (NNAAP).
