Construction Technologies Boot Camps

Short-term Continuing Education courses in Construction Technology are available!
The Air Conditioning Boot Camp provides the basic knowledge to develop the skills necessary to work with residential and light commercial HVAC systems. Topics include mechanical refrigeration, cooling theory, electricity, controls, and safety.
This course covers the fundamentals of heating systems. Topics include safety, instrumentation, system operation, efficiency testing, electrical power, and control systems. Upon completion, students should be able to perform maintenance, service, and testing on the major components of a heating system.
This course is designed to cover the basic installation and maintenance of plumbing systems and components. Topics include the safe use of tools, implementation of standard practices, and the installation and maintenance of piping, fittings, valves, appliances, and fixtures used in plumbing systems. Upon completion, students should be able to install and maintain basic plumbing systems, components, appliances, and fixtures through the appropriate use of plumbing tools and standard practices.
This course provides instruction related to the core skills used by carpenters in residential and commercial settings. Topics include safety, hand and power tool use, site preparation, measurement and layout, footings and foundations, construction framing, and other related topics. Upon completion, students should be able to construct, erect, install, or repair structures made of wood.
This course prepares individuals for an entry-level general maintenance position responsible for basic troubleshooting of electrically powered equipment. Topics include static electricity, Ohm’s Law, DC circuits, magnetism, alternating and direct current, indicators, transformers, capacitors, and electronic components. Upon completion, students will have a basic understanding of electrical circuits and electronic logic.
This course provides instruction in the principles and practices of welding. Topics include welding safety, equipment setup, welding processes, metal preparation, and basic fabrication techniques. Upon completion, students should be able to safely perform basic welding operations and demonstrate foundational welding skills used in industry.
