This exciting class begins with the basics from designing your workspace, cake baking, decorating tools, prepping a cake for decorating and many tips of the trade to help you create delectable cakes and icings. Learn using your new sewing machine in this back to basics class. Topics covered will include threading, winding bobbins, stitch variety, fabric choices and proper cutting techniques. Concealed Carry Handgun Permit

This course will provide the student with a working knowledge of the North Caroline laws as they pertain to the Use of Deadly Force.  This course also teaches the skills necessary to protect yourself and family members when faced with a violent encounter.  The student will be taught the fundamentals of gun operations, gun safety, ammunition familiarization and shooting techniques.  Proficiency with the weapon of your choice from the 3, 5 and 7-yard lines are expected.  This course in taught at Robeson Community College’s state of the art firearms facility, which utilizes a real time situational awareness moving target system, classroom and clean restrooms.  For safety and instructional purposes, an instructor to student ratio will be met so as to allow more one on one personalized instruction.

Whether you’re picking up a brush for the first time or you’re a seasoned painter looking to grow your technique, this fun and relaxed class is for you! Explore color, texture, and creativity with guided instruction and plenty of room for personal expression.  Each week builds your confidence as you complete projects designed to strengthen your skills and spark your imagination. Soon, you’ll be working on real canvas with acrylics and planning your own paintings in a supportive, encouraging environment.

Supplies:

When beginning your acrylic painting journey, it’s helpful to start with a basic palette. Here are some essential colors (brands like Liquitex Basics, Winsor & Newton Galeria or Masters Touch) Masters Touch ISN’T a favorite, but it works 

  • Primary Colors: Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Red, Ultramarine Blue

  • Additional Must-Haves: Titanium White, Mars or Ivory Black, Burnt Umber, Yellow Ochre

With these colors, you can mix most of the shades you’ll need while learning color theory and mixing techniques the first couple weeks. 

Other supplies needed:  
  • Mixed media or canvas pad 9×12 or larger
  • 3 – 4 pack of 8×10 canvases 
  • Drafting Tape – ½ inch
  • Set of synthetic (non-shed) acrylic paint brushes (5-7 in a pack), Sizes 2, 4, 6, 8, 12
  • Apron or large shirt to protect clothing
  • Sponge
  • Paint palette – disposable or plastic
  • Rag or paper towels 
  • Brush basin or water jar or cup
