The Detention Officer Certification Course (DOCC) is a mandated 174-hour course regulated by the North Carolina Justice Academy. The course takes approximately 5 weeks to complete. Upon completion of the DOCC, the student must pass the comprehensive state exam to graduate. Once the course has been successfully completed, the graduate will be eligible for certification as a new detention officer at any North Carolina Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.
