The Business of Farming Starts October 5 at RCC

The Small Business Center at Robeson Community College will offer ‘The Business of Farming in Indian Country,” a 10-week training program designed for entrepreneurs and farmers.

 In this program, students will have an opportunity to learn how to build the perfect strategic plan to move forward with starting a farm or small agribusiness.

The series will begin on Tuesday, October 5 at 6:00 p.m. and has online and hybrid options available. In-person classes will be available for up to 10 students (first-come, first-serve) in the Campbell Soup Conference Room located in Building 18 on the RCC campus.

There is no cost to enroll in the program as it being offered free of charge as part of the outreach and community service through the Small Business Network in partnership with the North Carolina Community College System and RCC. The program will be presented by Granit Training Group.

Individuals who complete the program will receive a certificate of completion at the conclusion of the training.

The training will include the following topics:

  • Week 1 – Legal Structures and Business Framework
  • Week 2 – Site Analysis and Exploring your potential
  • Week 3 – Understanding your market and customers
  • Week 4 – Financial Planning for your business
  • Week 5 – Maximizing your profits and “belt-tightening”
  • Week 6 – Business Operations and HR
  • Week 7 – Pasture Raised Chickens
  • Week 8 – Pasture Raised Cows and Calves
  • Week 9 – Market Garden Design, Barn Storage, Tractors, and Equipment
  • Week 10 – Drones and Agriculture
