Robeson Community College Grant Opportunities
The Professional Development Services Grant is administered by Robeson Community College and funded by The Robeson Count Partnership for Children and North Carolina Smart Start. The grant provides services for child care providers in Robeson County. Providers include teachers, assistant teachers, directors, assistant directors, and family child care providers working in licensed child care facilities.
Professional Development Coaches will utilize Professional Development Plans to assist child care providers in developing skills in early childhood knowledge. Once plans are created, plan implementation will begin by classroom observation utilizing the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) Tool, which involves pre and post testing. Consultations, including feedback, will occur following observation to increase teacher effectiveness. Professional Development Awards will be offered bi-annually to eligible participants for increased early childhood education hours and/or CLASS participation. Participants increase their early education hours by attending a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education Commission.
