RCC’s to celebrate 2nd Annual Homecoming Week with Community Events

‘Fall in love with Robeson Community College’ during the Second Annual Homecoming Week, October 30 – November 3. RCC welcomes alumni to ‘come back home’ and take part in the community events scheduled through the week.

On Monday, RCC will start the week off with Halloween in mind. What might seem scary to some, the day will start with a flu shot clinic that is open to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members. The clinic will be open from 10am-2pm. Other vaccines will also be available in limited supply, please bring your photo ID and insurance card. Food trucks will be on campus to celebrate, and there will be sidewalk art opportunities and a scavenger hunt will begin for students to take part in. The night promises to be spooktacular, as faculty, staff and students transform into ghosts and goblins, ready for all of Robeson County’s boo-tiful trick-or-treaters during the school’s annual drive thru event.

Halloween is Tuesday, and Robeson Community College will be hosting a costume contest at 12:30 in the student center. A tug-of-war competition will also be held to see who will be the winner of the RCC Spirit Stick. Defending champions in Cosmetology are prepared to battle it out with other departments to keep its reigning title and bragging rights. Everyone will meet out in the center lawn for this fun event. Tuesday is also club day and will feature a food truck as the scavenger hunt continues.

RCC is going to ‘Rock Your World’ on Wednesday. Rock 103 will be streaming live from campus announcing the “Rock Your World” scholarship contest – a $1600 scholarship that can be used towards any degree or continuing education credential. Registration will open for Spring 2024 and Summer 2024 semesters, and prospective students are invited to come tour campus, register for Winter, Spring, or Summer, and take part in the college’s fun day, which will include a dunking booth, mechanical bull, and pizza. If you are coming, be sure to rock out by wearing a t-shirt of your favorite band or dressing up like the rock star you are.

Thursday, Rock Your Mocs as we celebrate Native American Heritage Month with a special cultural exhibition from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. “Resilient and Enduring – We are still here,” reads the poster promoting the outdoor event, which will feature guest speaker Ashley Lomboy, the Lumbee Ambassadors, special entertainment and a powwow with song and dance, food trucks, craft vendors, and more!

On Friday, Robeson Community College is calling all gaming enthusiasts to participate in its first ever Game Day! The day will give RCC’s Video and Gaming Simulation students an opportunity to compete, as well as any others who would like to join in on the fun and compete. The day will wrap up with contest winners being announced for the scavenger hunt and fall door contest competitions, which opens on Monday.
