Interim Vice President Dr. LaRonda Lowery, along with instructors Kelli Heustess and Danyelle Miray, and Dean of University Transfer and Health Sciences, Scott Lamm, all gave their congratulations to students on their success during their remarks.

“Congratulations, as you move forward in your careers remember the lives you will touch, the difference you will make, and the impact you will have on countless patients and their families,” Lowery stated.
“I want you all to know that it isn’t by chance that you are sitting on this stage today,” said Heustess. “You have worked very hard and you have done an awesome job… you have to continue to learn each and every day in order to be the best respiratory therapist that you can be… always do what is needed to be the best therapist that you can be… Good luck and best wishes.”

“This is always a treat for us to acknowledge the achievements of our students,” stated Miray.
“What we are here to do is to celebrate you,” Lamm said. “We are all really proud of you.”

Carrie Jacobs served as the speaker for the ceremony. She is a graduate of the Respiratory Therapy program and also serves as the preceptor for clinical education at RCC.

“I hope this has been as great of an experience for all of you as it was for me,” Jacobs said. “I have a few words of advice for you…Thank God for everything you do, and for the career you will have in the future and to be thankful for the opportunity to serve others. Always remember to show compassion… Respiratory Therapy is not just a career but a life choice that you make to make a difference in other people’s lives… there will be good days and there will be bad days… just always remember you are not alone, it’s ok to talk about it, cry it out, and do whatever you need to do to come back and be the best respiratory therapist you can be.”

An academic achievement award was presented to Marjorie Phillips. Cody Edwards was chosen as the recipient of the Clinical Achievement Award.

“Take a look to your left and take a look to your right,” Madeline Barber, the class president of respiratory therapy stated as she gave an appreciation speech. “Those people in those chairs are now your lifelong friends… today is our day.”
