RCC To Host Black History Month Celebration (CANCELLED)

UPDATE: With the closing of the Public Schools of Robeson County, the anticipation of inclement weather and its associated safety concerns, the Black History Celebration scheduled to begin at 1:00pm in the A.D. Lewis Auditorium has been canceled.

Robeson Community College invites you to honor and celebrate African-American achievement with us! RCC will host a Black History Month Celebration on Thursday, February 20, 2020, in the A.D. Lewis Auditorium from 2:00P to 4:00P. This event will feature Attorney Tiffany Peguise-Powers and a presentation from Lumberton High School Band.

“This event represents an integral part of our celebration of cultural diversity at RCC, in our communities, state and nation, and as such, an important part of the mission of RCC. When we recognize the legacy of one group, we recognize the importance of all.” encourages Rocky E. Peterkin, Assistant Vice-President of College & Career Readiness and the Cultural Events Committee Chair.

Attorney Tiffany Peguise-Powers will serve as the event’s guest speaker. Attorney Powers earned her Bachelor’s at Hampton University and her Juris Doctorate at North Carolina Central University School Of Law. Attorney Powers participates in the various local organizations including the Robeson County Board of Elections, Robeson Council on the Affairs of Black People, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc, and Downtown Lumberton Association.
