RCC Student Melissa Jones wins Halloween costume contest

Robeson Community College always goes all out to celebrate Halloween, and this year was no different. The Student Government Association worked hard to make sure students were engaged in some spooktacular fun.

Halloween Spirit Week saw a mix of cowboys, superheroes, and pirates. We saw Mary Poppins and Mickey Mouse having a discussion, and there was one sighting of Superman. Even the Pink Ladies from the musical Grease, stopped by and made a brief cameo appearance at RCC.

The drive-thru trick or treat event held on Thursday was a huge success, with more than 1000 cars coming through the line. We were told that at times the traffic was backed up all the way to the State Employees Credit Union on Fayetteville Road, as cars packed with children waited patiently to get thrilling treats. Voting is still underway for the department that had the most creative costume – we will let you know who wins once the results are in.

And today, the Halloween Costume Contest saw some scary and creative characters arrive on campus to compete.

Melissa Jones, who dressed up as the Plague, was declared the winner beating out the Phatom, who took second place.
