RCC Radiography program to graduate largest class in history; 12 honored during pinning

Established in 2005 at Robeson Community College, the Radiography program has continued to grow. Almost twenty years later, the program is set to graduate its largest class ever with 12 graduates.

“Twelve students may not seem like a huge number, but they have made RCC Radiography history as the largest class,” stated Candice Ward, the program director. “Believe me when I say twelve is a lot, especially considering all of the time spent, individually, with each student performing exam checkoffs.”

The twelve are Taylor Council, Taylor Davis, Justin Tyler Fann, Brittany Fonvielle, Haley Gillespie, Meghan Jones, Johná Lewis, Madison McCain, Makenna Parnell, Heather Perritt, Echo Quig, and Allison Stocks. All 12 will graduate from the program on May 8 and were honored during a pinning ceremony last night.

“Several of these students have already been employed as student technologists for almost a year,” stated Ward.

Many of the students have already obtained jobs and some are seeking to continue their education in the radiological sciences in computed tomography (CT), mammography, and radiation therapy.

“No matter what their plans are individually, they will be assets to the field of radiography,” Ward said.

During the pinning ceremony, four awards were given:

  • Clinical Achievement Award- Johná Lewis
  • Academic Achievement Award- Makenna Parnell
  • Staff Technologist of the Year Award- Adriana Bullard
  • Clinical Site of the Year Award – Southeastern Radiological Associates (Award was accepted by Mike Moldovan)

“We would like to express our gratitude to our families and friends for their support throughout this journey,” a note from the Class of 2024 stated in the pinning ceremony program. “Thank you also to our clinical instructors and staff technologists for their willingness to share their knowledge in support of our success.”
