RCC job fair set for April 23

Spring into a new job this April at Robeson Community College. The Spring 2024 job fair will be held on April 23 from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., outdoors, on the Center Lawn of Campus.

“We are very excited about this year’s upcoming job fair,” stated Samantha Oxendine, the director of counseling and career services. “We currently have 60 employers signed up who have committed to being on our campus on April 23.”

Oxendine says that these employers are seeking a variety of positions from entry level to more advanced positions that require experience and educational requirements.

“Our job fair is open to the public, we invite our students at Robeson Community College as well as our alumni and community members to come and take part in this event,” Oxendine said.

“Our job fair continues to grow each year,” Oxendine added. “We are currently prepping our students with resume workshops, a mobile fashion shows of interviews do’s and don’ts, and with time management skills, and self-esteem workshops to help the student think positive thoughts about themselves.”

In addition to employers, Robeson Community College will also have several community partners on site to discuss resources that are available.

“Our community partners will be providing information about the free services and resources that are available to our students and those in the community,” Oxendine said. “Just to name a few, we will have North Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation on site – they have helped many of our students find resources to pay for cost of attending college as well as provide counseling on careers and that’s is all available for free; We will have CORE and NC Legal Aid of North Carolina, as well as Southeastern Community Action Partnership and more.”

And, even if you’re not in the market for a new job, Oxendine says you can still come out and join Robeson Community College on your lunch break.

“We will have food trucks on our campus too,” Oxendine said. “We are expecting Hunts Food Truck and Sweet Frog, and we may have additional trucks, but so far those are the two that have confirmed with us so far… It’s going to be a great day, and we invite everyone to come out and enjoy the day with us.”

Employers who are interested in having a booth at the job fair should contact the Counseling and Career Center at careers4u@robeson.edu.
