RCC job fair on April 25 to feature more than 50 employers
Preparations are currently underway for RCC’s Outdoor Career and Resource Fair, which will be held next Tuesday, April 25 from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The event will take place in the center lawn between Buildings 13 and 17 on the main campus in Lumberton. In the event of rain, the date will be moved to Tuesday, May 2.
The job fair will feature more than 50 employers.
“It is comparable to some of the largest job fairs in Southeastern North Carolina, tailored to a lot of the programs we offer at the college,” stated Samantha Oxendine, the Director of the RCC Counseling and Career Services.
Oxendine says that there will be representatives from businesses looking to hire for various positions.
“It’s going to be a good representation of business and industries found in Robeson County and the surrounding counties. Many employers conduct interviews at the job fair and hire candidates on the spot,” Oxendine said. “Come prepared with resumes and be sure to dress your best to make a good first impression.”
Several agencies will also be present, distributing information about available resources to students, alumni, and the general public.
“It’s a one-stop shop for networking with potential employers and also an opportunity for students and alumni to work with our agency partners,” Oxendine said.
Those partners include NC Legal Aid, Southeastern Community Action Partnership, and Lumbee Tribe Vocational Rehabilitation.
Several food trucks are also scheduled to be on campus for the event.
In addition, April 25 will be the day of RCC’s Grad Bash, a reception for students who graduate in May as they pick up caps and gowns, which will be held in the Student Center from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
“As students pick up their graduation attire, they can walk on to the career fair and get a job,” Oxendine said. “It made perfect sense to hold the two events together.”
The RCC Outdoor Career and Resource fair is open to the public and admission is free.
