RCC Huddle aims to make university acceptance a slam dunk
On Tuesday, March 21, Robeson Community College invites students and others in the community that are interested in earning a bachelor’s degree to its campus for its 2nd Annual March Huddle: Making University Acceptance a Slam Dunk. The event runs from 9:00 am – 11:30 am in the Workforce Development Center, Building 18.
“We want students to know that they can start at Robeson Community College, and literally go anywhere,” stated Scott Lamm, the dean of university transfer and health sciences at RCC. “Our University Transfer program allows students the opportunity to earn credits, transfer, and go on to obtain their 4-year degree and the school they have always dreamed of attending.”
Current and prospective students will have an opportunity to speak with college recruiters about options available, transfer opportunities, guaranteed admission for RCC students, learn more about the RCC University Transfer program, and connect with RCC faculty and staff.
A special invitation has been extended to RCC students, RCC Early College students, and PSRC high school students, as well as counselors, coaches, and teachers with PSRC. A huddle will take place with key stakeholders and leaders following the transfer fair.
“We look forward to bringing our local school partners from various high schools to showcase our University Transfer program and partnerships available, so that we can provide more opportunities available for our CCP students, so they can make great advances in their chosen pathways,” said Lamm.
“Our University Transfer partners offer guaranteed admission for RCC students,” Lamm stated. “So, whether a student wants to attend NC State or UNCP, once they complete the requirements for an associate’s degree at RCC, and they’ve signed up for the University Partnership, they will be guaranteed acceptance to that college.”
RCC’s University Partners that will be in attendance:
- UNC Chapel Hill
- NC State
- UNC Wilmington
- Lees-McRae
- Methodist University
- Fayetteville State University
- East Carolina University
- UNC Pembroke
The University Transfer program at RCC is one of the most popular pathways, giving students the ability to earn an associate of arts or an associate of science. Many general education classes will be offered this summer at RCC, online and face-to-face, allowing students to get ahead on their degree.
