RCC Code Club to host car wash fundraiser

Get your car spic and span this weekend and help support college students in the process.

The RCC IT C.O.D.E. Club will host a car wash fundraiser on Saturday, July 30 from 9am – 1pm at Robeson Community College. The club is a new organization at RCC and is being formed for cybersecurity and information technology students.

The money raised will go towards helping students in the club attend a 3-day conference in Washington, DC this October for the NSF-ATE grant the college received in 2021.

“The conference allows us to see what other schools are doing and to get ideas to further our grant,” said Lisa Steffs, NAS-ATE grant coordinator at RCC. “Students will get to participate in group activities in cybersecurity and other areas of IT.”

Steffs says there are seven students in the club and hopes that all can attend.

“We want to make sure that we can take everyone,” said Steffs.

For just $1 visitors can purchase a drink or a snack, car washes will be $20 and if you drive a SUV or a truck, it will cost $25.

“Please come out and support our students and the newly founded IT C.O.D.E. Club of Robeson Community College,” said Steffs. “Your car will be beautiful and shiny and you’ll be helping to make a difference for our students.”
