Random Acts of Kindness Day Celebrated at RCC

In celebration of National Random Acts of Kindness Day, Robeson Community College’s Counseling and Career Services Office organized an effort where the campus community could create and send a kind note.

“Remember, being kind costs nothing,” wrote Samantha Oxendine in an email to the campus, as she encouraged others to take part in the activity.

Students, faculty, and staff were invited to come and decorate a card, create a note, utilizing resources made available by the counseling office. Once created, the note was then delivered by the SHOP (students helping other people) club on February 17 to faculty and staff.

“It made me feel really appreciated,” said Courtney Jacobs, the executive assistant to the president at RCC and Board of Trustees, who was the recipient of one of the kind notes. “Several gestures were given out throughout the day by SHOP students, and it can really make your day.”

As Ralph Waldo once wrote, “you cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon will be too late.”
