Lumberton Fire Department, Cosmetology declared winners of tug-of-war competition
In the first tug-of-war competition held during the 2022 Homecoming Celebration of the Home of the Brave, it was “Boots & Scrubs vs. Badges.”
Deputies from the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Lumberton Police Department and St. Pauls Police Department, put up a good fight against members of Lumberton Fire Department, but in the end, proved they were no match for the firemen. The firefighters were declared as winners once the rope got away from the deputies.
“I want a rematch,” deputies could be overheard saying.
The next series of competition took place between students in various departments.
Round 1 – Industrial Technology students vs Basic Law Enforcement Training cadets. The BLET students easily took the prize and won round 1 of the student competition.
Round 2 – Radiography students vs. Cosmetology student. Cosmetology students stood their ground, quickly showing their strength as a team and winning the game.
Round 3 put the winners from Round 1 and 2 against each other. BLET was outnumbered by Cosmetology, but they said they didn’t mind, thinking their sheer strength together would outmatch the other side. They were quickly proved wrong, and Cosmetology won in a matter of seconds.
For losing, BLET had to do push-ups on site.
For winning, Cosmetology became the keeper of the RCC Spirit Stick and were challenged to dual against the Lumberton and St. Paul Police Departments, the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, and the Lumberton Fire Department.
In this round, it was four agencies against one department.
It was transparent that Cosmetology was out powered, but the Cosmetology students didn’t give up and fought hard till the bitter end before letting the rope go. The deputies and firefighters won the last competition, but RCC’s Cosmetology students still proved strong and became the major upset of the day.
