Robeson Community College

Family Empowerment Self Sufficency Event Scheduled for May 19

On Wednesday, May 19, students at Robeson Community College will have an opportunity to talk one-on-one with case managers from the Southeastern Community Action Partnership about the Family Empowerment Self Sufficiency (FESS) program.

FESS services can assist students with the following:

– Employment

– Education

– Transportation

– Childcare

– Housing

– Case Management

“It’s a wonderful thing that they are doing,” said Kim Jacobs, counseling secretary for the counseling and career services at RCC.  “We want students to utilize this resource. We hope students will come out and at least have a talk with the case managers to see what they may be eligible for.”

There are multiple opportunities for students and assistance is not always based on income.

“If a student is not eligible for one area of funding, they may be eligible for something else,” said Jacobs.

The event will take place from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  in the Student Center, Building 13. No appointment is necessary. For more information, students are asked to please contact Kim Jacobs at kjacobs@robeson.edu or (910) 272-3353.
