Notary Public Education


This course covers information necessary for persons wishing to obtain a notary public commission.  Course objectives are to acquaint prospective notaries with the rules, regulations, and powers governing a notary public. 

A textbook is required for admission to the class and can be purchased through our bookstore.  The book is entitled “North Carolina Notary Public Manual 2016”.  Cost of the textbook through RCC Bookstore is approximately $30.00.

The law requires that you must be 18 and able to speak, read, and write English.  You must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and reside or have a regular place of work within North Carolina.  You must present a valid North Carolina photo ID to be admitted to the class.  Class size is limited.  Preregistration and payment is required five days prior to class start date.  Cost of the course is $70.00 plus $2.00 access fee. 

All day classes will be held in the Charles V. Chrestman Workforce Development Center Room 1848 and will meet from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.  Please bring your pictured ID with you for identification purposes.  To register, please click on the link above that states “Click Here to Register for Classes”.  You may also visit the Charles V. Chrestman Workforce Development Center to complete the registration paperwork and make payment in person.
