82nd Airborne ‘wows’ audience with performance at Robeson Community College

The 82nd Airborne’s All-American Chorus descended upon Robeson Community College Tuesday delivering a performance that wowed the audience.

The soldiers sang a wide-range of melodies from “God Bless America” to their now famous rendition of “My Girl.”

“It was very powerful,” said Rose Avant, one of the concert-goers. “It was awesome, they were very professional, they knew what they were doing, it was just very impressive.”

“I loved it when they sang “My Girl” and all of the beach music,” Rose said.

“I have no words,” Sally Carr, the HR Director for RCC said. “It was so beautiful and very inspirational.”

Sally’s favorite was when they sang Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA.”

“I wish it could have lasted longer,” said Jennifer Oxendine. “We should have asked for an encore, it was just so good.”

“I saw some people crying in the audience,” stated Melissa Jones. “It was simply amazing.”

After the concert, school children from the Public Schools of Robeson County presented soldiers with handmade hearts in show of their appreciation and love for the servicemembers.

“We thank the United States Army’s 82nd Airborne Division for sharing the talent with our campus and community today,” stated RCC President Melissa Singler. “This was an amazing performance by the All-American Chorus, I absolutely loved it.”

Singler led the crowd in giving a roaring round of applause that lasted for minutes as everyone gave a standing ovation to the soldiers.

“We thank you for your service to our country,” Singler said “Thank you for your performance today.”
