63 employers expected at April 26 Outdoor Career Fair
Robeson Community College continues to receive registrations from employers seeking to attend the Outdoor Career Fair and Resource Event on April 26. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the main campus in Lumberton.
The event is free and open to the general public. Organizers say that the fair will feature everything that you need to jump-start your career. Door prizes will be given for attendees who register at the event.
For one student at RCC, attending the job fair held on campus last fall, really paid off big for him.
“I wasn’t exactly looking for anything specifically,” said Kenneth McCoy. “But just going to the job fair put me in something that I had not considered before.”
McCoy landed a job with Unilever as a facility technician. McCoy is currently pursuing a degree in air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration and is set to graduate next month.
“I went to talk to them and they gave me a paper test. I passed it and then I had to go to the next test which was a gear box that was messed up and you had to figure out how to fix it,” said McCoy. “I ended up getting a call from them with a job offer the next day.”
“I would encourage others to come out and put your name out there, you never know what kind of job you might find,” said McCoy.
