Transfer Partnerships

The Carolina Student Transfer Excellence Program (C-STEP) is a partnership between Robeson Community College and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. 

C-STEP is designed to foster success by identifying talented low-to-moderate income students while they are early in their community college experience, working with the community college to mentor students as they complete the associate’s degree and transfer as a junior to UNC-Chapel Hill.

Participating in C-STEP means having an academic advisor at Robeson Community College as well as UNC-Chapel Hill, and participating in activities designed to develop a connection with the Tar Heel community. Robeson Community College students who participate in the program are guaranteed eventual admission to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, provided they complete the Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree and maintain a minimum cumulative G.P.A. above 3.2. 

• Fill out the online application, and please include all requested information.
• Upload unofficial hard copy transcripts from your graduating high school and all colleges and universities attended. (You must submit transcripts from all post-secondary institutions in which you have enrolled, regardless of whether you completed coursework.)
• Email two electronic letters of recommendation in PDF format.
• Please self-report  SAT or ACT results (If taken)
• If you answer “yes” to any of the community standards questions, please submit an explanation and supporting documentation as requested in the instructions. Please note that we are unable to review incomplete applications that do not include an explanation and supporting documentation for any community standard incidents.

The NC State Community College Collaboration (C3) Program is a dual-enrollment program designed as a guaranteed admission pathway for participating community college students interested in completing their bachelor’s degree at NC State University.

This program will benefit the Associate in Arts and Associate in Science majors.

The C3 Program targets students from rural or low-to-moderate income backgrounds who demonstrate the potential for academic success and exhibit a high level of motivation and perseverance. It is open to students immediately after completing high school or for community college students who have completed less than 30 credit hours of college work.

The C3 application for 2024 opens September 1st. See https://c3.ncsu.edu/apply/#dates-and-deadlines for additional information. RCC students should be enrolled in an Associate of Arts (A.A.), Associate of Science (A.S.), or Associate of Engineering (A.E.) degree program at one of our partner community colleges.  You should have completed less than 30 transferable college semester hours when applying to C3, and you must have at least 24 semester hours remaining in your A.A., A.S., or A.E. program. You must be eligible to return to each institution you previously attended.  If you have attempted coursework at NC State, you must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 or higher on your NC State work.

Make sure to submit your C3 application and all required materials by the deadline. C3 applicants do NOT have to submit a regular freshman or transfer application for admission. You only have to submit the C3 application. If you have international high school or college work, you will be required to submit a few additional materials.

• Review our deadlines. Applications are generally available in mid-November for the following fall semester. The final deadline is June 1, but we encourage students to apply early.
• Complete the Residency Determination Service (RDS) Form. The C3 program is available only to students who qualify as North Carolina residents for tuition purposes. Click to complete your RDS Form and obtain your Residency Certification Number (RCN). You will need your RCN on your C3 application.
• Complete the C3 application online. Each section of the application will automatically save as you complete it, so you do not have to complete the application all at once.
• Submit your transcript(s). You will need to submit an official transcript from your high school and each college or university you have attended. Your high school transcript is required only if you are under the age of 21 or have less than 30 transferable college credit hours when you submit your application. Transcripts may be uploaded directly to your application, sent electronically from your high school or college, or mailed to the C3 Office. If you have international high school or college coursework, click for more information on the additional documents you must provide.
• Apply to one of our partner community colleges. To be eligible for the C3 program, applicants must apply and be admitted to or be currently enrolled in an Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, or Associate of Engineering program at one of our partner community colleges.
• Check your status. You may check the status of your C3 application online. You can see what documents we have received or what information may still be missing. We will also notify you of your final C3 decision through this account.

RCC & NC State values your success as a student, and C3 pairs your path to an NC State degree with academic and social support to enhance your experience. C3 provides the following tools and activities to ensure your experience along the way.

The program pairs one’s path to an NC State degree with academic and social support through specific programmatic support: an NC State advisor, online planning tools, and networking events. Participants in the program commit to earning either the Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree, maintain a GPA above 3.0, and participate in program activities. Upon completion of the degree and verification of the cumulative GPA, students are guaranteed admission to NC State University. Admission to specific programs may be more competitive.

After completion of the A.A., A.S., or A.E. degree with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better,  C3 participants are guaranteed admission to NC State. Entry into specific majors may be more competitive.

C3 students will be assigned an RCC & NC State advisor upon admission to the program. The advisor at RCC will ensure students are progressing towards completion of their degree. The advisor at NC State will help students identify majors that are aligned with their interests and academic abilities, map a comprehensive course plan, and ensure that courses taken at the community college will transfer to the student’s intended major. Students will also receive financial aid advising to maximize aid eligibility and minimize student debt.

Students will have direct access to NC State’s specialized online advising and course planning tools. These tools will help develop a comprehensive academic course plan to enhance the timely completion of both the associate and bachelor’s degrees.

While enrolled at RCC, students will have opportunities to visit NC State’s campus for specialized C3 activities and programs to network with C3 students from NC State as well as other community college campuses. Students will develop social connections to ease their transition to NC State.

C3 and other NC State representatives will also visit RCC several times during the regular academic year to meet with C3 students and make sure they are progressing toward their goals and staying connected with one another.

UNC Wilmington and Robeson Community College have established a Pathway to Excellence Partnership (PATH). PATH offers guaranteed admissions to RCC students who complete either the Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree with a cumulative GPA of 2.4 or higher.

UNCW will provide a Transfer Student Success Advisor to meet with students at RCC at intervals throughout each semester at the community college, working in collaboration with RCC advising staff to help students create a path of transfer and beyond. UNCW will host RCC students annually in an Open House event. UNCW will provide an application event each spring on the RCC campus, providing application fee waivers to students applying to transfer.

To participate in PATH, interested RCC students are to complete the letter of intent.

Robeson Community College is proud to announce its University Transfer partnership with East Carolina University! This transfer program is for students who are in their first year of coursework at RCC and allows them to attend special events, receive advising assistance, and receive additional support before they apply to ECU.

The Pirate Promise program is a partnership between Robeson Community College and East Carolina University. Pirate Promise is designed to create a pathway for prospective ECU students to begin their college career at RCC and transfer to ECU after successfully completing either an Associate in Arts or an Associate in Science program. Students in the Pirate Promise program will receive academic advising from both institutions through a collaborative model designed to provide support and guidance every step of the way.

Pirate Promise students will also be eligible to purchase an ECU 1 Card and will be granted access to a multitude of campus resources, including admission to athletic events and access to the campus libraries. Prepare for your future: join the Pirate Nation with Pirate Promise. GO PIRATES!!

• Early College and Career and College Promise students are eligible if pursuing an approved associate degree and in their junior year of high school.
• To retain eligibility, students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5.

RCC’s partnership with Methodist University enables RCC students who transfer to Methodist University to carry with them credit already earned for as much relevant study as possible. Courses taken at RCC by any delivery method are considered equally transferable.

RCC students must meet the same standards and criteria for admission at Methodist University. Methodist University offers many articulation crosswalks for various programs. MU will accept Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, and Associate of Applied Sciences.

1. Students may take up to 8 credits and no more than two classes at Methodist at the current RCC tuition rate.
2. Students are guaranteed admission with a 2.0 GPA from RCC and successful completion of the AA/AS/AAS degree.
3. Up to 64 hours will be accepted for transfer.
4. Students will need to complete a minimum of 31 hours of their bachelor’s degree at Methodist University.
5. Course grades of less than C will not be accepted.
6. Students will be provided a Methodist student identification card, and students have access to the library at Methodist.
7. Students will have joint advising. One from RCC and one from Methodist University.

RCC’s partnership with Lees-McRae College furthers the efforts of both institutions to meet the educational needs of the RCC student body. Each student seeking to transfer from RCC to LMC will be admitted and earn the necessary academic credits needed through a state-wide articulation agreement.

RCC students admitted to LMC will receive academic merit scholarships that range in amounts up to and including 60% off LMC’s annual tuition based on GPA. These merit scholarships are guaranteed for the duration of the student’s stay at LMC, provided the student remains in good academic standing.

1. All RCC students must fill out the LMC application for admission, and the application fee will be waived.
2. Credit is automatically given for all courses completed with a C or better that articulate to an LMC program of study.
3. Students apply during the second semester of their sophomore year at RCC.
4. Students must have a 2.2 GPA up to a 3.0 GPA minimum at RCC, depending on the LMC program of study.
