Cosmetology

The cosmetology program is designed to prepare students through classroom and practical instruction to master concepts in all phases of professional imaging, hair design, chemical processes, skin care, nail care, multi-cultural practices, business/computer principles, product knowledge, and other selected topics.

Upon graduation, students should qualify to take the North Carolina State Board Examination required for licensure as a Cosmetologist. Upon successfully passing the State Board exam, graduates will be issued a license. Employment is available in beauty salons as skin care specialists, nail technicians, platform artists, and other related areas.

Job opportunities and careers are unlimited in this field. Cosmetologists may choose to work in the industry for companies as a platform artist, or they may work in a doctor’s office as a skin care specialist.

Entry-Level Salary

Depending on location, salary can range from $25,000 to $50,000 per year. (NCWorks Online)

Robeson Community College will offer a bilingual night cosmetology program beginning in January 2025! 

This class will be taught in both English and Spanish and will offer students the ability to complete a degree in cosmetology during the evening hours in 2.5 years. 

The class will meet Monday-Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 10 pm.
