RCC Celebrates the Class of 2026 During Commencement Ceremonies

LUMBERTON, N.C. — Robeson Community College celebrated the achievements of the Class of 2026 during commencement ceremonies held Wednesday, May 13, at 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. A total of 383 graduates were honored during the two ceremonies as degrees and diplomas were conferred before trustees, elected officials, faculty, staff, family members, and friends.

The ceremonies opened with Early College High School student Roberto Nieves performing the National Anthem on guitar, while Student Government Association President Kionna Locklear led the Pledge of Allegiance.

President Melissa Singler welcomed attendees and congratulated graduates on reaching an important milestone in their lives. “Today represents not only the completion of your academic journey, but also a powerful step forward into a future filled with possibility,” said Singler. As you move forward, carry with you your pursuit of excellence, your curiosity, and your commitment to others.”

The commencement address was delivered by Bailey Stephens, a 2018 graduate of RCC’s Nursing program and now a Family Nurse Practitioner with UNC Women’s Health Services at Southeastern. During her address, Stephens shared her personal journey of perseverance and encouraged graduates to continue moving forward despite challenges and setbacks.

“The people who succeed are not the ones who never fail,” Stephens told graduates. “They’re the ones who refuse to quit. Be brave enough to try, be brave enough to fail, and be brave enough to try again.” Stephens reminded graduates that success comes through resilience, determination, and continuing to show up even during difficult moments.

As graduates crossed the stage to receive their credentials, the ceremonies celebrated not only academic achievement, but also the dedication and perseverance demonstrated by the Class of 2026 throughout their educational journeys.

Robeson Community College congratulates the Class of 2026 and wishes each graduate continued success as they continue their academic journey or join the workforce, both of which they are well prepared for.
