RCC students enjoy ‘pancakes and resumes’ event
Can one ever have too many pancakes? That was one debate amongst students during RCC’s pancake and resume event.
In exchange for resumes, students were treated to a pancake breakfast. Just one resume guaranteed students two green pancakes prepared by the Culinary Arts Department, in honor of ‘Read Across America’ Week, with syrup and butter, and a glass of orange juice.
“We had over 100 in attendance to visit our office for resume assistance,” stated Samantha Oxendine, the Director of Counseling and Career Services. “It was an amazing turnout, and we will be working with these students to make sure they have a great resume in time for the job fair on April 15.”
The event was held in conjunction with ‘Read Across America’ Week, in honor of Dr. Seuss, a beloved author who instilled the love and joy of reading in many.
“As part of the week, today was dress as your future career day,” Oxendine said. “We usually try to offer an incentive for students to seek resume assistance, and we found nothing works better than pancakes and syrup.”
The Counseling and Career Services Office offers a variety of resources to students, including free resume support, job exploration, career interest inventory tests, and access to job postings through the College Central Network.
“Today has been a great day and we hope our students enjoyed the event as well,” she added. “It’s never too early to start preparing for your future.”
“I also would like to say a special thank you to the Culinary Department for their support, as well as thank the Counseling and Career Services staff for their dedication to the success of our students,” Oxendine added.
