Youth Employability Services
In support of the mission of Robeson Community College, Youth Employability Services of Robeson County (YES ROBESON) is designed to empower out-of-school youth through training and career services in an effort to facilitate their educational and employment objectives.
YES ROBESON is a partner of the Lumber River Workforce Development Board and a service provider under the Workforce Investment Act. Youth eligible for our services must be age 16-21, low-income and not currently attending any school. Eligible youth must fall within one or more of the following categories:
- Deficient in basic literacy skills
- High school dropout
- Homeless, runaway or foster child
- Pregnant or parenting
- Criminal background
The Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) is used to assess the basic literacy and numeracy skills of out-of-school youth in the YES ROBESON program. Youth who score below a 9.0 on the TABE are considered basic skills deficient and will be referred to the Adult Basic Education program.
