Small Business Center
The Small Business Center of Robeson Community College is located in the Charles V. Chrestman Workforce Development Center (Building 18) and it offers approximately 60-75 free seminars each year designed to assist aspiring and existing entrepreneurs.
The NC Community Colleges Small Business Center Network assists in starting an average of more than 650 businesses each year. Small Business Centers have an economic impact in 90 percent of all NC counties each year including helping to create and retain nearly 3,000 jobs annually. Over 68 percent of these jobs are in the rural counties of the state. We accomplish our mission by offering no-fee confidential counseling, free seminars that are open to the public, and a Small Business Center Resource Center with computers, Internet access, books, and periodicals.
The seminars we provide are free due to special funding from the NC Legislature with a specific purpose; to increase the success rate and the number of small businesses within the state. Our seminars are open to the public.
We offer free, confidential, one-on-one counseling services to assist you in researching and determining the feasibility of your business idea, writing your business plan, locating sources of funding, marketing, and advertising, taxes, and record-keeping, obtaining permits and licenses, etc. Our goal in counseling is to guide you “step-by-step” through the process of making your dream of owning your own business a reality. Through counseling, we also seek to help you discover viable solutions to problems that may be hindering your business from growing or producing higher profits. Counseling appointments are scheduled at times convenient to the client.
Our Small Business Center Resource Center contains books that you can check out as well as other current publications and periodicals. A computer with Internet access is available for your use in locating information that will assist you in starting or growing your business.
