Robeson Community College inducts 12 into Phi Theta Kappa

On Monday, April 25, Robeson Community College inducted 12 students into Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society that serves to recognize and encourage achievement of those enrolled in two-year colleges. To be eligible for PTK membership, students must maintain a GPA of 3.5 or above and have completed a minimum of 12 transferrable credit hours.

Audrey Pait and Jim Brisson, both Instructors at Robeson Community College, serve as co-advisors for the RCC Beta Delta Mu Chapter of PTK..

“I am extremely proud of you and all of your accomplishments,” said RCC President Melissa Singler, during welcoming remarks. “I want to congratulate you on your achievement and I look forward to the continued development and contribution of each one of you as our future leaders.”

Dr. Patrena Elliott, Vice President of Instruction and Student Support Services was the speaker of the event.

“You have reached a pivotal point in your academic pursuits,” said Dr. Elliott. “You set out on this journey to help position yourself for the next level… you had the courage to take the first step and continue forward.”

“I want you to remember that while the acquisition of knowledge is important, the application of this knowledge is just as important,” Dr. Elliott stated. “One last thing you mustn’t forget is to reach back and bring someone forward. Bring someone along with you. Do not forget that the peers of today will be your colleagues tomorrow. Continue to keep in touch with them. Continue to encourage them… Continue to promote RCC to others. We want to be a beacon of hope for all.”
