RCC to offer free training in Agribusiness beginning March 8

The Small Business Center at Robeson Community College will offer free training in “Accelerating Agri-Business in Indian Country.” The program, designed to empower new and existing farmers, will begin on March 8 at 6:00 p.m. Students will have a choice of attending  a face-to-face class on the RCC campus or opting to attend remotely, as the classes will also be live-streamed.

The training will be provided in-person as well as virtually by Farm School on Wheels.

It will consist of a 6-week series in which new and beginning farmers will explore their options in farming, ranching, and agriculture. The program will help those attending to cultivate a strategic plan to help students validate goals and engage with a community of entrepreneurs.

Students will learn about the legalities of operating a small business, how to access current market trends and gain a better of understanding of their customers and target market.

As students’ progress through the series, they will receive a certificate of completion for each module they complete. Students who attend at least 4 courses in the series will receive an additional certification and have access to other business development support opportunities.

There are 6 modules in the series – one per week. The series is open for enrollment anytime, so students can pick and choose which modules they would like to complete.

The following modules are available in this series:

Week 1 – Legal Structures and Business Framework
Week 2 – Site Analysis & Exploring Your Potential
Week 3 – Understanding Your Market and Customer
Week 4 – Financial Planning for Your Business
Week 5 – Maximizing Your Profits and “Belt-Tightening”
