Robeson Community College

Message from the President to Students

Dear RCC Students,

You have passed a major milestone as you have completed your first month of our new normal. These past weeks have not been easy and is certainly not what we expected when this semester began.  Classes resumed after spring break as virtually with many of you never having taken an online class before. You demonstrated strength and resiliency by staying the course and working through obstacles to achieve your goals.  I can think of no better demonstration of our determination and RCC spirit. Our community is creative, resilient, and in this together.

While I would love to give you a concrete timeline as to when classes and life in general might return to normal, the truth is, there is currently no way to know. Our intention is to return to our classrooms, labs and on-campus activities this fall. The summer semester, will begin on schedule, but classes will continue to be held on-line. If the situation allows, we are prepared to bring everyone back on campus at some point, during the summer session. We must be mindful that COVID-19 may continue to cause some modifications to our normal instructional delivery. We are preparing for all possible developments in order to make the best decisions, should changes be necessary.

One change we have made already is the decision to delay graduation until August 13, 2020.  More information will be provided in the coming weeks. Please continue to check our website and Facebook page for updates.

Remember as we continue along this journey, we care deeply about your welfare and are working hard to support your success. We realize you are navigating complicated home environments while pursuing your studies. I am so proud of how we have pulled together over this past month and commend each of you on your persistence.

Students, stay positive, stay focused and keep working towards your goals. You have already shown you have the strength to achieve your dreams! I look forward to seeing you back on campus soon!

Sincerely,

Melissa Singler
