First Responders Unite at RCC

RCC welcomed over 600 students at The 46th Annual Southeast Fire/Rescue College and Law Enforcement Expo was held in early February. The event is one of the premier training events in the state. This year’s event had 662 students attending, half being from out of the county.

Various classes were offered in areas such as Firefighter, Technical Rescuer, Driver/Operator, HazMat, and Aerial Certifications as well as EMS, National Fire Academy, National Incident Management System, Law Enforcement and First Responder training.

The goal of the event is to further educate emergency responders to help the communities at large. “Average attendance for the seminar over the past five years has been 653 students. The fire-rescue seminar continues to draw students due to the area for basic and certification training. Going forward, as long as the seminar adapts to changes in fire-rescue programs, it will continue to grow.”, says Robert D. Ivey, Jr, RCC’s Fire & Rescue Training Coordinator.
