Emergency Blood Drive Schedule at RCC for 9/13

Robeson Community College will be hosting an emergency blood drive on Monday, September 13 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the parking lot located by the auditorium / building 15. All donors will receive a $20 e-gift card and donations will be screened for COVID-19 antibodies.

According to the American Red Cross, demand for blood continues to rise and the supply of blood continues to decrease due to the pandemic.

Every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood.

“It could be you or your loved one that needs it next,” said Cheryl Hemric, public information officer at Robeson Community College. “We hope that everyone in our community that is healthy will come out to donate blood and help ensure that an adequate supply is available for those who need it the most.”

Individuals who are 17 years of age or older, and healthy, can donate blood. Just one pint of blood can save up to three lives.

“Blood transfusions could be the difference between life and death,” said Hemric. “When you need blood, there is no time to wait. It is critical to saving someone’s life.”

An additional blood drive has already been scheduled at RCC for Thursday, September 30. It will also be held from 9am – 2pm.
