Discover Better Skills, Better Jobs during RCC’s Career Expo October 29

Robeson Community College will host its first ever Better Skills, Better Jobs Career Expo on October 29 in partnership with the John M. Belk Endowment and NC Reconnect. The event will take place on the main campus in Lumberton on the Center Lawn between Buildings 13 and 9 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The Better Skills, Better Jobs Career Expo follows an extensive five-month advertising campaign by Robeson Community College aimed at reconnecting with adult learners, encouraging them to return to the class, and motivating them to complete a degree or post-secondary credential.

“This career expo is another way that we are seeking to meet our adult learner population where they are,” stated Vice President Dr. Johnny Smith. “We hope this opportunity will connect students and community members with job openings and provide a pathway to start new careers.”

In addition to employers being onsite, RCC’s student services support team will be available to assist prospective students with registration, financial aid inquiries, and information about programs and services offered at the college.

“We are actively working with employers to secure their participation in the expo, with a goal of having at least 100 employers and community partners on campus,” Smith said. If you are looking to fill positions, please contact us to reserve a booth at the event.”

There is no cost to attend the job fair. Admission is free for attendees and there are no fees for employers to reserve a table.

“This is Robeson Community College’s way of engaging adult learners and connecting them to employers and resources,” said Smith. “It is a great opportunity to meet with one-on-one with recruiters, talk with staff and leave resumes with employers to open doors for future employment.”

“First impressions are everything, so dress for success on October 29 and land the job you’ve been seeking and working towards,” Smith said. “We have a growing list of employers. We will be here from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm, so get ready and be prepared so that you don’t miss out on this opportunity.”
