April 25, 2020

After monitoring the current situation, Robeson Community College has made the difficult decision to postpone the Spring 2020 graduation until August 13, 2020. The graduation ceremony will be for all Spring and Summer graduates.

Students who have ordered a cap and gown, can pick those items up on May 5 from 10am – 2pm. The pickup will be a drive thru arrangement. Please enter the campus through the entrance at the traffic light and follow the posted route. You will not be allowed to exit your vehicle.

We apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Financial Aid refund checks will be mailed by Friday, April 17th, 2020 (disbursement includes classes that began in March).

PLEASE NOTE: Due to COVID-19, refund checks will be mailed to your address listed on file. Please immediately verify your address, by logging into your student Self-Service Portal, click on the your name in the top right-hand corner, then ‘User Profile’, and either click on “Confirm” or “Add New Address” to verify your current address or to change the address on file.

Students, please remember that if you do not complete your classes for this semester, you may be required to pay back a calculated percentage of the total aid awarded. Please consult with a financial aid specialist before dropping any classes.

March 24, 2020

The RCC Bookstore will temporarily close to the public on Wednesday, March 25th at 2pm. During the closure, the Bookstore will continue to offer uninterrupted service to students and the campus community through the bookstore website (www.robeson.edu/bookstore). FREE SHIPPING is being offered to customers during this temporary closure.

The Bookstore hours for Tuesday, March 24 and Wednesday, March 25 are 10am – 2pm.

March 21, 2020

As part of precautionary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Robeson Community College is closing the Library, the Learning Center, and all computer labs to students. Please note this decision is part of the preventive measures we are taking to ensure the safety of students, employees, and the general public.

The Library and the Learning Center are still available to answer questions and assist you during the college’s transition to online learning.

March 17, 2020

The Library will be closed today at 5:00 pm and remain closed for the remainder of the week. It will reopen Mon, Mar 23 from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, serving students only.

March 16, 2020

Due to the seriousness of COVID-19, Robeson Community College will extend spring break until Sun, March 22 and will shift classes to online instruction starting Mon, March 23rd. Students will be contacted by their instructors through online class sites already in use. Continuing Education and BLET students will proceed with classes on Mon, March 16 as normally scheduled. Employees will also report to work as normally scheduled.  The college is still open and activities are continuing as planned unless specifically stated.

As recommended by local and state health officials, we have canceled events that involve large crowds.

Online Learning Help

Robeson Community College is committed to ensuring student success during these challenging times.  On Monday, March 23, faculty representatives will be answering a call-in number for students who need help with online instruction.  Our primary goal is to provide students with help accessing and navigating their course materials.

Admissions

The Admissions Office will be open M – Th. 8:00 am – 5:00 pm and on Friday from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm.  Our main office number is 910-272-3342 and this number will be manned at all times during the course of the business day.  Please have students call this number or email admissions@robeson.edu for answers to questions or concerns they may have.

Bookstore

The RCC Bookstore is temporarily closed to the public as of Wednesday, March 25th at 2pm.

The Bookstore is processing daily web orders for textbooks and course materials! If you need text, codes, or supplies, place your order at the bookstore website (www.robeson.bncollege.com). We are offering FREE SHIPPING and SAME DAY EMAIL OF CODES on orders placed by 3pm. We also have a limited selection of laptops available.

Counseling and Career Services Mission is to provide academic, personal, social, and career development services that assist in promoting student success while attending college.  Students, employees, and families of Robeson Community College (RCC) are encouraged to utilize our office staff to progress students toward attainment of their goals.  Counselors will listen to assess, communicate to provide guidance, as well as collaborate and coordinate with campus/community resources to refer if necessary. Counseling services can be requested individually or as a group.

Finish Line Grant

Emergency funds are available through the Finish Line Grant (FLG); and if you are experiencing hardship or have a financial need due to the COVID-19 virus, you can apply by completing the application on the Financial Aid website (http://www.robeson.edu/fa) or by emailing Jeff DeMoss at jdemoss@robeson.edu.  We will help with completion of your application via phone (910-272-3352) or email only at this time.

The Learning Lot (Drive-in Hotspot)

Starting Wednesday, March 25, 2020, The Learning Lot will be a place for you to access the internet from the comforts of your vehicle. If you don’t have internet access at home, or if you need to get away from distractions at home to work on your school work, this is the place for you!  The Learning Lot is located in the parking lot between buildings 3 and 14 (see map at bottom of this section).

Here are some things you need to know about using The Learning Lot:

  • The hours of operation are Monday – Thursday 8AM – 8PM and Friday -Saturday 8AM – 5PM.
  • The Learning Lot will be monitored by campus security.
  • Due to the current situation, all social distancing measures must be followed while on campus.
  • Students should have their RCC student ID with them.  This is to ensure RCC students have priority.  It is not a MUST to have your student ID but if the parking lot is full, we cannot ensure you will have priority without your ID.
  • Although campus is open, there are a limited number of staff on campus.  Therefore, please do not litter in the parking lot.
  • Current students will connect to the wireless network using their existing username and password.  Once you connect the first time, you will not be prompted for your username and password for 90 days.

As we face the current pandemic as a College, the RCC Library Team wants students, staff, and faculty to know that we are still here to serve you.

There are three ways to access the Library’s learning resources online:

    • OneSearch: Search across all of the Library’s holdings from one search screen
    • Research Guides: The Library Team points users to the best databases for every program area and/or topic

 Wondering how to access the Library’s online resources from home? RCC students, faculty, and staff can use their RCC network accounts to gain seamless access to the library’s e-resources. When you click on a resource from the RCC Library’s website, users will be taken to a landing page where you will type in your credentials. Remember to input your full email address on the top, and then your RCC network password.

All library fees will be waived until further notice, so do not be concerned if you have materials checked out at this time.

Records and Registration Office representatives will be available from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and closed on Friday during the summer.

    RCC Alert System

    Robeson Community College provides emergency notification services to the students, faculty, and staff via: phone, email, text, social media, website, call boxes, and a public warning system. The public warning system broadcast emergency messages over electronic sirens which incorporate custom tones, pre-recorded emergency messages, and live voice capabilities.

    Students and Employees are automatically added to this system at registration and upon new hire. Its the user’s responsibility for regularly checking their e-mail and/or updating their contact information at the SELF Service Portal.

    The Learning Center

    The computer labs may be closed but tutoring services are still available in an online format!  Keep in mind we are working with the learning center tutors and their access to online capabilities. Therefore, if you currently have a tutor, you may not be able to resume tutoring with that person if online capabilities are not available. REMEMBER: You have the option of using a Smarthinking tutor. Smarthinking is located in all of your classes AND the link can be found on the learning center web page (www.robeson.edu/tlc).

    As you request assistance with a learning center tutor, this form(https://tinyurl.com/qpnhlkq) will serve as the sign-up sheet. Once you complete this form, we will do our best to pair you with a tutor and someone will contact you.

    Veterans Affairs Office

    Due to COVID-19, the Veterans Affairs Office will assist you via phone and email only.  However, please note, that we are committed to serving you and helping you reach your educational goals during this pandemic. We are working closely with Veterans Affairs Office regarding the impact of COVID-19 may have to our students and we are happy to announce that your VA Certifications will remain the same.  Your rate of pay will not change due to moving from face to face classes to online instruction.

    Coronavirus Help Line

    The Robeson County Health Department has established a Coronavirus Helpline. The number to call is (910) 671-3220. The helpline will be available Monday-Friday 8:15am-5:15pm. Persons experiencing fever, shortness of breath, and severe coughing should call their medical provider for further evaluation. Please note that general questions can also be directed to the NC Department of Health and Human Services Help line at 866-462-3821, which is available 24/7.

    The Natural Disaster Distress Helpline

    The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) provides a 24/7, 365-day-a-year crisis counseling helpline for anyone experiencing emotional distress related to natural or human-caused disasters. 

    This service is available free of charge and confidential. You do not even need to give any kind of identifying information when you call.

    NC COVID-19 Information

    North Carolina is using the North Carolina 2-1-1 system to send updates and important information about the COVID-19 response.  This information is provided by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

    You can call 211 or 1-888-892-1162 and follow the prompts to learn about resources and get recent updates.

    Public Schools of Robeson County will offer FREE To-Go meals.

    ANY Child or young adult ages 1-18 

    Time: 11:00 am – 1:00 pm; Monday – Friday 

    (consumed meals with-in 4 hours)

    All sites are drive-thru sites only.  Parents may pull up to the designated area and a SN employee will provide the number of meals needed. Parents are asked to stay in their cars. Adult Meal will be A LA CARTE pricing.

     

    United Way of Robeson County

    Due to rapidly escalating needs, United Way of Robeson County has established a COVID-19 Community Relief Fund, to support efforts providing services to residents impacted by Coronavirus. 

    The goal of the fund will be to distribute financial resources as quickly as possible to Robeson County nonprofits.

    Options for paying for the 2020 Summer Session:
