6th Year in a row, Radiography achieves 100% first time pass rate

Robeson Community College is excited to announce that its Radiography program has achieved a 100% first-time pass rate for the sixth year in a row. Students enrolled in the program must take the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (AART) certification within six months of graduation.

“All nine of our graduates passed on the first attempt,” said Candice Ward, the Radiography program director at RCC. “Only the first attempt counts for accreditation.”

The program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and the application process is as Ward says, “highly competitive.”

“We can only take between 10-12 students per year,” said Ward, but that is part of what makes the program so successful.

“The smaller classes allow for our students to make real connections with classmates and it allows us to do one-on-one practice with them in the lab.”

The program also boasts a 100% job placement rate, which also has been maintained for the last six years.

“The job market is booming,” said Ward. “We can’t produce enough graduates to fill the number of jobs available.”

Graduates of the program go on to work in various healthcare settings such as hospitals, outpatient facilities, orthopedic and doctor’s offices, surgical centers, mobile x-ray units, and more.

In addition to offering an associate’s degree, the program also provides graduates with an opportunity to complete additional credentials.

“From this degree, students can come back to take Computed Tomography and MRI through continuing education,” said Ward. “The associate’s degree in radiography is required for both of those.”

Ward says that there will be two upcoming information sessions this fall, September 30 and November 3. If you are interested in attending either session, please send an email to cward@robeson.edu or visit the Radiography website at https://www.robeson.edu/healthsci/rad/ to learn more.

Enrollment for the Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Image credential is currently open. The next CT class will begin on July 5; MRI will begin July 11. To be considered for enrollment into this training, students must have obtained at least an associate of applied science in Radiography. To register for CT or MRI, please contact Christy Locklear, continuing education director of health occupations, at chlocklear@robeson.edu or (910) 272-3609.
