Administrative Medical Specialist (Coding & Billing)

According to the 2005/2006 Occupational Outlook Handbook, Medical Billing is among the ten fastest growing occupations in the U.S. Every health care provider must submit proper documentation to insurance companies for reimbursement, thereby creating numerous opportunities for trained individuals in medical offices, clinics, and hospitals, as well as home-based employment. This course imparts a working knowledge of medical billing and reimbursement, as well as diagnostic and procedural coding systems. Join in the important growth-oriented health care field! If you are energetic, enjoy challenge work, and want to learn the language, rules and procedures of the health care field, this is the job for you! Textbook required.

This Administrative Medical Specialist certificate course includes the following training:

  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Medical Office Procedures
  • Medical Terminology
  • Medical Billing and Insurance
  • Diagnostic & Procedural Coding

To become an Administrative Medical Specialist, a student must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED.

Pre-registration for this class is not required, but is an option.
