RCC Faculty Member Recognized for Service to Phi Theta Kappa

LUMBERTON, NC (June 23, 2008) — Mr. Micah Sampson recently received recognition from the Phi Theta Kappa headquarters in Jackson, MS for his outstanding 10 years of service as advisor to the RCC Beta Delta Mu Chapter.

In a letter to RCC President Charles V. Chrestman, expressing gratitude to chapter advisors, Phi Theta Kappa Executive Director Rod A. Risley, noted, “We ask that you convey to Micah our sincere appreciation for the service and time gave to further the ideals of Phi Theta Kappa at your college”.

Mr. Sampson is a faculty member in the Electrical/Electronics Technology department on campus.

Phi Theta Kappa is the international honor society of two-year colleges and academic programs, particularly community colleges and junior colleges. It also includes Associate's degree-granting programs offered by four-year colleges. It is headquartered in Jackson, Mississippi and has more than 2 million members in more than 1,200 chapters, in nations including the United States, Canada, Germany, and Japan.

Phi Theta Kappa's purpose is to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. To fulfill this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa provides an outlet for leadership development, fellowship among student members, community service, and continuing academic excellence.
