Funding
LUMBERTON, NC (April 2, 2008) — The Robeson Regional Biotech Education Consortium (RRBEC) recently
received notification from the National Science Foundation (NSF) that
the project will receive continuation funding for Year 3 of the
project.
In August 2006, the National Science Foundation awarded Robeson
Community College $867,154, over a three-year period to help promote
biotechnology in southeast North Carolina. RRBEC staff have worked
diligently with project partners, UNC Pembroke and the Public Schools of
Robeson County to help accomplish the grant objectives and
deliverables.
In total, the scope of the RRBEC has directly impacted over 1,313
participants to date form the greater southeastern North Carolina
region.
RRBEC staff are working with partners to wrap up the second year of the
grant, and look forward to another successful year in helping bridge the
biotechnology gap in Robeson and surrounding areas.
